RM of McKillop’s story
The Rural Municipality of McKillop No. 220 began on December 13, 1909, when it was incorporated as the RM of Strassburg No. 220. A decade later, on July 15, 1919, its name was changed to the RM of McKillop No. 220, the name it carries today.
The RM lies beside Last Mountain Lake, and its borders surround the town of Strasbourg and the village of Bulyea, where the RM office is found. Several resort villages sit within the municipality, including Glen Harbour, Island View, Pelican Pointe, Saskatchewan Beach and Sunset Cove. Organized hamlets such as Alta Vista, Mohr's Beach, Spring Bay and Uhl's Bay are scattered through it as well.
Rail lines of the Canadian Pacific Railway cross the area, and Highways 20 and 322 serve communities within it. Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Monday of each month.
